    Description

    1950's High School annual
with great photographs and text showing the students and faculty, activities and sports, candids and graphics, pictures of school and surrounding. And including class and track team pictures of Rock and Roll pioneer Phil Everly, who has the James Dean hair and the Elvis Presley sneer. Interestingly, classmates contended that the brothers, who sang so beautifully together, were toughs and greasers to be avoided. This is the only yearbook where either brother is represented with an individual head shot. Don appears in a group shot the previous school year while Phil was not yet in high school. Great pictures and period design, from a small school.
    The Everly Brothers
were an American rock and roll
    duo, known for
    aggressive steel-string acoustic guitar playing
    and
    close harmonies
. Consisting of Don Everly, born in 1937, and Phil Everly, born in 1939, they
first appeared on radio singing along with their parents as "The Everly Family" in the 1940s. When still teenagers, they gained the attention of prominent
    musicians
    .
They began writing and recording their own music in 1956, and their first hit song was "Bye Bye Love," which
hit number 1 in the spring of 1957, and additional hits would follow through 1958 including "Wake Up Little Susie," "All I Have to Do Is Dream," and "Problems."
In 1960, they signed with the
    Warner Brothers, r
    ecording "Cathy's Clown,"
their biggest selling single. Other hits included, "When Will I Be Loved," "Till I Kissed You," "Let it Be Me," "Walk Right Back," and others. The brothers enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps
    in 1961. D
rug usage in the 1960s, slowed their output, but they continued to release hit singles in the U.K. and Canada, and toured throughout the 1960's.
The group was highly influential on the music of the generation that followed, including The Beatles, the Beach Boys, Simon and Garfunkel.
the Hollies, Marmalade, Bee Gees, the Chapin Sisters, and others. They were inducted to the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
as part of the inaugural class of 1986. Phil's older brother Don had quit school by this time and never was much for book learning, and this would be Phil's last year, as the boys would soon be on tour.
