    Description

    ALBERT EINSTEIN
    (March 14, 1879 – April 18, 1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity, one of two pillars of modern physics. He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics for his services “to theoretical physics and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect.”
    Offering a fine assemblage of seven photographic prints with highlights including an image of Einstein aboard the Rotterdam with Zionist leaders David Mosessohn, Chaim Weizmann and Menahem Ussishkin from 1921.
    The voyage marked the beginning of Einstein’s first trip to the United States, the purpose of which was fundraising for the establishment of Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
    Among the others are a studio portrait credited to E. Willard Spurr, Pasedena, CA, 1931, a copy image of a casual snapshot of Einstein in a short-sleeved shirt, seated on a front porch, with the German inscription referencing an evening listening to the music of Handel and Back, signed and dated in the original image (this example is not signed or inscribed by Einstein), and a photograph of Einstein in a cardigan sweater, standing outside with his wife, signed “Sam Little” in the negative at right.
    Overall, excellent condition with a few bent corners well away from the images.
