    Description

    MANHATTAN PROJECT.
The Manhattan Project was a research and development undertaking during World War II that produced the first nuclear weapons. It was led by Robert Oppenheimer, the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory, who designed the actual bombs. Eventually the bombs, nicknamed Fat Man and Little Boy, were used to force Japan's surrender.
ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH OF THE DETONATION SITE OF FIRST NUCLEAR DEVICE TAKEN BY OPPENHEIMER'S PERSONAL ASSISTANT
100% GUARANTEED TO BE AUTHENTIC & LIFETIME RETURN POLICY
Original photograph of the detonation site for the first nuclear device was taken by Inez Claire O'Brien, Oppenheimer's personal assistant. The test occurred on July 16, 1945 in the Jornada del Muerto desert about 35 miles southeast of Socorro, New Mexico. In 1965, the test site was declared a National Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Although the left side of the photograph is blurred by O'Brien's hand, it still shows the desert landscape and is in fine condition, measuring 4.5'' by 2.75''.
