    AGE OF TECHNOLOGY AUCTION
Welcome to my auction dedicated to the history of technology. This summer I will be listing some interesting and unique objects from the industrial past. I believe that each object has a history and it is only a matter of time to discover it. Every object is being sold as is. I do not test, restore or repair any objects. I simply enjoy them as they are. Please, take a look at my other listings. There are quite a bit exciting discoveries this year!
"ANTIQUE 1861 FARM HOE TOOL PATENT MODEL / SALESMAN SAMPLE! US PRE-MECCANO!"
Up for sale is an absolutely fantastic discovery that came from a collection of patent models! This is either a one-of-a-kind patent model, a salesman sample, or even both. The invention is an improved hoe farm and garden tool discovered in Wautoma, Wisconsin. I am having a hard time reading the description on the paper label attached to the model by the inventor, but I believe it says "Andrew W Jennings Improved Travelling & Adjustable Hoe 1861". Andrew either sent this model to the US Patent Office to receive a patent for his invention, or he never had a chance to do that because he went to war. That was the exact year when the American Civil War started. Patent models or salesman samples of the early wheel hoes are extremely rare, but not only Mr. Jennings invented the improved version of the hoe, but he also made a model using the parts that are similar to the future Meccano, patented in 1901. In my opinion, Mr. Jennings possibly made the very first American Pre-Meccano parts, flat metal strips with the centered holes positioned with equal intervals, without realizing it. In other words, he was 40 years ahead of the British inventor Frank Hornby! This model shows some wear and it might be missing some small pieces that used to hold the piece of wood together, making it not so stable. There is also a piece of metal that has been broken off on one side. This is exactly how this model was discovered in an old barn. It has not been restored or re-finished. I simply placed it on a shelf as a piece of American history. I believe this patent model or a salesman sample will be a perfect addition to any collector of farm tools, Meccano pieces, and anybody who is interested in the history of inventions. It is definitely a museum piece! I can send it anywhere in the world, but the shipping of is for Canadian and USA customers only. Please ask me first for the rate if you live in a different country
