Up for sale is a rare example of the original salesman sample of a patented ski. The patent belongs to Norwegian inventor Peter Ostbye and Splitkein company. The sample was shown to local manufacturers here in British Columbia, Canada when the company tried to conquer the North American market in the early 1900s. There was multiple model fo ski carried by salesman either in a case or a leather pouch. The idea of this patented ski is to show how the wood is pressed and demonstrate what ski could be done using the patented glue. The current model of the ski is number 130. It is stamped right on the ski. The ski sample never came with a boot attached because it just demonstrates the way the ski is made. I am selling it in unrestored condition. It shows some scratches, signs of use, dents. There is a little bit of splitting in wood caused by ungluing layers of wood, but that could be probably fixed with a drop of wood glue. The original decal is quite worn and missing some parts but you can still see some readable letters of the company's name. This salesman's sample ski is about 25 1/4" long.
